Lord, I pray for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and other innocent black lives that were senselessly taken before their time

I pray for your black children whose lives continue to be threatened and impacted by racism in our society today

I pray for your children of all races, to recognize that we are all your creation and that all of us are “fearfully and wonderfully made” in YOUR image. To say otherwise is against your Word and is unacceptable. I pray for their clarity and revelation, to not only acknowledge, but to truly understand and believe that

Black lives don’t just matter, they are of God.

I pray for our activists, advocates, and allies who continue to speak the truth and fight the corruption and injustice in our systems

I pray for our police officers, politicians, and others in positions of power, to recognize this as an opportunity to learn and grow, and to root out the evil that exists in our institutions. Their words and actions can change lives, whereas their neutrality is like Pontius Pilate washing his hands and assuming absolution

I pray for this change

I stand with this change

I will demand change – from my peers and any injustices I witness in my own life

This is not a prayer for peace, this is a prayer for justice. Because without justice, there can be no peace.

Lord hear my prayer

And now that You have heard it, it’s my job to take the opportunity and privilege provided to me to fight against the injustice and to glorify Your name. Your will be done.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:34-39
