To our son on his graduation By Donna Marie and John Berger

May 19, 2019

Dearest Christian,

As you graduate, our hearts are overflowing with joy for the person you have become and what you have accomplished. We are so very proud of you!

You already know that life is a progression of doorways. We are always crossing thresholds, great and small into new situations and opportunities. As you approach your new career, take time to give thanks to God for how you got to where you are today. Remember that, whatever is good and perfect in life is a gift coming down to you from God your Father. (James 1:17)

And, on your very first day of work, Christian, remember the Bible verse that we so often go back to, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33)

We know that you will work hard and play hard in your life. But we hope and pray that all you do will be rooted in faith. Some of the doors you will walk through, will be colorful and welcoming leading to successes and happy times. Some will be dark and scary. Always remember that God can be wherever He wants to be, and yet He chooses to be with you and all who believe in Him and love Him. When you live according to His expectations, “He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) Remember that He is always there for you. In the good times and in the not so good times, turn to Him first.

Each day is a new opportunity to grow closer to the Lord in love, faith and trust. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 12:30-31) When you do this, you can pray with confidence according to His Will and your prayers will be answered. (1 John 5:14-15) Lock these truths in your heart and pass them on to your children and anyone around you who needs to hear them.

Finally, Christian, as long as we have breath, we will be here for you, loving you and encouraging you. We are your biggest fans and greatest allies. But our greatest joy is in knowing that forever and always you will be a beloved and cared for child of God.

All our love, always,

Mom & Dad
